Look at the proud faces of the new owners of these ceramic monsters. Mrs. Shuppy's ceramic students at SSHS turned these beautiful 2D masterpieces into beautiful 3D hand-crafted masterpieces. What talented students we have both in kindergarten and high school. Mrs. Pulver's students are certainly going to cherish their ceramic monsters for years to come. #WeAreSouthSummit #SSHSWildcats #SSElemWildcats #UTPublicEd #ArtIsBeautiful

Ladies and Gentlemen: the NUES Teacher of the Year!
South Summit High School’s Jolene Christensen was recently named as Teacher of the Year for the Northeastern Utah Educational Services (NUES) region. Christensen teaches Agriculture Science, Environmental Science, Plant and Soil Science and Floriculture and Greenhouse Management.
You may know her from the Greenhouse. She's the one who tends so carefully to the beautiful summer flowers you see for sale now and the gorgeous poinsettias in the winter.
She'll be presented with the award at an official recognition ceremony at the Rural Schools Annual Conference this summer. Congrats Mrs. C! #WeAreSouthSummit #SSHSWildcats #NUES #RuralSchools

A fun way to end the year for these Monday Mentors-bowling! Thanks to our school social workers who manage this program throughout the year to create a connection and a safe space of belonging for students in both SSMS and SSHS.
We have wonderful community partners that help provide opportunities, experiences, and possibilities for students outside of school and home. Bowling was one of those awesome experiences that our students got to participate in and enjoy. #WeAreSouthSummit #SSHSWildcats #SouthSummitMiddle #MondayMentors #SchoolSocialWorkers

Way to go Track and Field team! Great job at state!

Congratulations to Tess, Neve and Gibson for earning the 2024 International Innovation Merit Award at the Real World Design Challenge (RWDC)! The RWDC is an annual competition that provides high school students, grades 9-12, the opportunity to work on real world engineering challenges in a team environment. Each year presents a new challenge that many of our nation's leading industries face.
This year the students were tasked with developing an uncrewed aircraft to support wildfire mitigation. Silver Summit Academy’s Engineering Capstone Class (aka Team Yeti ) competed against 21 state winning teams and national winners from around the world, including India, Pakistan and China. Their design, Inferno, won the 2024 International Innovation Merit Award.
If you're wondering why the world's engineering experts turn to high schoolers for help in solving today's tough issues? This is why.
The students' teacher, Mrs. Rydalch explained that the Inferno is unique because the students, "utilized a generator system for propulsion rather than a battery and used SATCOM to solve a whole host of communication challenges providing reliability and durability to meet mission needs.” SATCOM stands for Satellite Communications Datalink and allows aircraft to communicate with ground users like Air Traffic Control and other ground operations centers using voice or datalink recordings.
Mrs. Rydalch and all of South Summit School District is so proud of these students and we cannot wait to see what their future will bring.

We are happy to announce the results of the State Solo and Ensemble: Ellis Leary on Piano Solo achieved a Superior (I) rating and will be awarded a medal by the UHSAA.
Ivy Jackson in Woodwind Solo received a Superior Minus (I-) rating, earning a certificate from the UHSAA.
Tapestry, our Chamber Choir, scored two Superior Minus (I-) ratings, securing a plaque in recognition of their performance.
These accomplishments reflect the immense dedication and countless hours of practice our students have devoted. Their hard work places South Summit High alongside top-performing, not to mention larger, schools such as Ogden, Timpview, Provo and American Fork-just to name a few. This makes us one of the smallest schools to achieve "Straight Ones." Congratulations students, Mr. Beal and Mr. Scribner! #WeAreSouthSummit #SSHSWildcats #BandRocks
