I am from the Pacific Northwest and graduated from Pacific University in Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Spanish. After completing my degree, I conducted research for the National Science Foundation and published my own formula as part of that work. From there, I entered the professional world as a statistician and analyst, primarily in the medical field. I am excited to transition into teaching and share not only my knowledge of mathematics but also my enthusiasm for discovering math in the world around us!
In my free time, I love being outside on a hiking trail, working in my garden, and spending time with my husband and three children.
Hello! I’m Aspen Blazzard, and I’m thrilled to join the South Summit High team as your new Agriculture and Biology teacher. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education from Utah State University and my associate’s from Snow College. Agriculture isn’t just a subject for me—it’s a lifelong passion, and I’m so excited to pass that on to my students.
I love everything outdoors—camping, mountains, and wide-open spaces. South Summit is home and I’m honored to be here. My mission is simple: to spark curiosity, build confidence, and help students connect what they learn in class to the real world. I truly believe in the power of agricultural education and I’m here to serve the school and community in any way I can.
Coach Brian Jacketta is excited to be joining South Summit High School as the Wildcats Athletic Director and mathematics teacher!
Coach Jacketta has over 23 years of varsity football coaching experience at Olympus, Providence Hall, Bingham, Granger, Riverton and Cyprus High Schools. Coach Jacketta is a 1992 graduate of Cyprus High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society as well as a Football and Baseball Athlete, earning all-state and all-region honors in football. He received a Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics/Coaching from the University of Utah (GO UTES!) in 1997 and completed his Masters of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University (Orange, California) in 2004. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree from Dar al Hikmah (Baghdad, Iraq) while deployed as a member of the Utah Army National Guard in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) in 2008.
Coach Jacketta served in numerous leadership positions with the Utah Army National Guard during a 31year career, retiring as a Colonel in 2023. Coach Jacketta is a combat veteran having deployed twice (Iraq in 2007 and Kuwait in 2018) and earned a Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, two Meritorious Service Medals, and various others during his career.
Coach Jacketta and his wife of 30 years, Carrie, have four children and enjoy traveling, especially to watch the Seattle Seahawks, and Coach Jacketta is a certified SCUBA diver.

Keyton Gines is the new Career and Technical Education (CTE) Health Science Instructor at South Summit High School. A proud South Summit alumnus, Keyton brings over three years of experience as an athletic trainer with Intermountain Health at South Summit High School, along with a diverse background in healthcare that includes work with collegiate and professional football teams, orthopedic specialty clinics, and as a member of the Justin Boots Sports Medicine Team.
He holds a Master’s degree in Education from Montana State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from the University of Utah. Keyton is a licensed athletic trainer in Utah and holds certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Emergency Medical Response (EMR), and Corrective Exercise Specialization (NASM-CES).
The SSHS School Community Council meeting for April 21, 2025 has been canceled. The final meeting for the year will be May 12, 2025.
HUGE WELCOME to our new Weights/PE Teacher, Business Teacher, and Head Boys Basketball Coach!
We're absolutely thrilled to introduce Coach Craig Morris! Born in West Valley City and a proud Hunter High School alum, he knows Utah hoops! He went on to play DII ball at Dixie State (now Utah Tech), so he's definitely got the on-court experience.
For the past six years, Coach Morris has been sharing his knowledge as a high school basketball coach (with Cedar Valley and Corner Canyon girls) AND as an adjunct professor at UVU in Strategic Management and Operations. Talk about a well-rounded leader!
Coach Morris earned his Master's in Business Administration from Clemson University after getting his undergrad at Utah State. Smart AND skilled – we love it!
While Coach Morris and his awesome family have spent many summers at their family cabin in Pine Valley, they are making the move to the Kamas Valley.
Let's give them a HUGE South Summit welcome!
