Meet Matt. Matt Greiner just won two Gold Medals in the Junior World Cup in Luge. This year he was competing in La Plagne, France, but it’s not the first time he’s medaled in Europe. Last year Matt won a bronze medal in the Junior World Cup, held in Altenberg, Germany and a silver medal at the Junior World Cup in Winterberg, Germany.
Matt has been sliding for eight years ever since he started with the Youth Sports Alliance after school program. As a student at Silver Summit Academy, he takes two semesters as a traveling student and trains at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York. He also trains in Europe occasionally. While in town, he trains at the Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah. He works closely with her teachers to ensure he knows what’s expected of him academically while he’s away. He completes his work virtually while he’s away and communicates with his teachers via email.
