Accident Insurance for Enrolled Students
South Summit School District provides blanket school-time accident insurance for all enrolled students. This plan covers accidental injuries occurring on campus during regular school hours, during school-sponsored and supervised activities (including interscholastic athletics), or while traveling in school-provided vehicles. Operating with a $0 deductible, the policy acts as secondary coverage to help pay remaining out-of-pocket expenses, such as copays and deductibles, for insured families, while serving as primary accident coverage for uninsured students. Eligible medical expenses are covered at 100 percent of Usual, Customary, and Reasonable (UCR) charges up to $25,000 per accident ($75,000 maximum for UHSAA-sanctioned activities). To maintain coverage eligibility, injuries must be reported to the school within 72 hours, initial medical treatment must begin within 180 days, and completed claim forms must be submitted within 90 days of the accident.
