As our veteran member, Steven Hardman has been serving on the School Board for 11 years. He chose to run because he wanted everyone to be treated the same and for all to be held to the same standard. He still fights for those values today. #wearesouthsummit #schoolboardrecognitionmonth

President of the School Board, Dan Eckert, has been serving for five years. As a retired teacher with a Masters in Education, Dan felt he had a way to contribute back to the school system. With encouragement from his wife and others, he ran for the Board and is happy he did. He really enjoys his time in our wonderful district. #wearesouthsummit #schoolboardrecognitionmonth

Debra Blazzard is currently the Vice President of the South Summit School Board. She has served on the Board for seven years and believes that our kids deserve the best education and school experience that we can give them. In her spare time she likes to mountain bike, go anywhere warm and read, and she may even be caught on a Netflix binge once in awhile! #wearesouthsummit #schoolboardrecognitionmonth

Today, January 6, the Summit County Health Officer (Dr. Philip Bondurant) and the Summit County Manager (Thomas Fisher) issued a public health order for individuals in Summit County. Specifically, the order requires all individuals to wear masks while indoors beginning January 7, 2022. This order includes, but is not limited to, indoor facilities such as grocery stores, movie theaters, restaurants, schools, etc. This Order begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022 and is currently in effect until 5 p.m. on February 21, 2022.
Tomorrow, January 7, 2022 all South Summit School District buildings will comply with the Public Health Order as issued by the Summit County Health Department. As you may know, House Bill 294 eliminated all past mask mandates and withdrew the State Health Department’s power to authorize any such future mandates. That authority was given instead, to local government agencies; in our case, both the Summit County Health Department and the Summit County legislative body.
The complete Order and a full list of exemptions can be found at https://bit.ly/2022-01.

The Summit County Health Department issued a formal public health advisory regarding the record-breaking transmission of the COVID-19 Omicron variant. The advisory (in effect through January 31st) strongly encourages people to engage in several precautions known to be effective in preventing the spread of COVID:
Wear a face mask, regardless of vaccination status, whenever indoors in public. Masks should always cover the nose and mouth.
Stay home if they are exhibiting any symptoms of illness—regardless of vaccination status or past infection—and get tested for COVID.
Follow current guidance on isolation and quarantine.
Get vaccinated and (if eligible) boosted.
Avoid all large gatherings if they are not vaccinated and (if applicable) boosted.

Welcome back!

Happy New Year! Watch out 2022, here we come! #wearesouthsummit
