High school boys interested in trying out for the Golf Team: The two day tryouts are Tues, Aug 1st at 6:30 a.m. and Thurs, Aug 3rd at 6:30 a.m. Both days will be held at ROUND VALLEY GOLF COURSE in Morgan, UT. Each player will be responsible for paying the course ($8 each day) and for transportation to and from the course for the tryouts. We are looking to fill 12 spots and possibly a couple alternates depending on scores and interest. Please wear appropriate golf attire to the course each day. The South Summit School Board will have a vacancy effective August 16, 2023 due to the resignation of the board member representing Precinct 5, South Summit West and South Summit South. Anyone who resides in Precinct 5, who is interested in being appointed to fill the vacancy may submit their name and contact information to Dawn McMillan at dmcmillan@ssummit.org by July 7, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.
The School Board will interview each individual whose name is submitted for consideration at its July 13, 2023 meeting in the open and public board meeting and will make the appointment within thirty days of the actual vacancy. Questions may be submitted to Dawn McMillan at the above email address.

Silver Summit Academy graduation has changed locations due to weather. Graduation will still begin at 6:00 and is still in Promontory. The new location is:
Double Deer Event Center, 6347 Nicklaus Valley Road in Promontory. the building is marked "Private Event". Guards at the gates will have maps to help you find your way.

South Summit dual language immersion students took their audience on a tour around the world recently. First through 5th grade students performed songs and dances from various Spanish-speaking countries. DLI students get to learn about different cultures throughout their years in the program. SSHS Alumni Alert! Mr. Lewis likes working with his hands, so starting in maintenance work right out of high school was a natural fit. He currently works as a custodian at South Summit Middle School and enjoys being part of the District.
You can find Jeff outside doing pretty much anything, especially snowmobiling, side-by-siding, restoring his '66 Mustang and cooking on his Traeger. He also enjoys woodworking and oil painting. Spending time with his family is important too. He and his wife have two kids and three grandchildren. "I've been in Kamas Valley my whole life! And I really like this town and most of my family is here also."

In his life before school counseling, Mr. Carter taught 8th grade. He even taught here at South Summit Middle School for a few years before getting his degree in counseling. "School counseling was and is a great way to work with students individually and I really enjoy it. My favorite things about South Summit are the bright and kind students and the location of the schools. This is a unique and beautiful setting."
Dave lives in Heber with his wife and four kids. Besides being out with them, he likes fixing up old Schwinn bicycles, fly fishing and hanging out with his dog.
