INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS COMMISSION MEMBERS NEEDED
We need new Material Commission Members! The list consists of three new Lay Citizens, one Secondary Teacher, and one Secondary Principal for the Fall 2022 review. The deadline to apply is October 21st.
Commission members have the responsibility to oversee the review of instructional materials at the Utah State Board of Education.
Commission members make sure that reviews submitted follow specified procedures to ensure alignment to core standards and evaluation rubrics. Commissioners receive samples from publishers to acquaint them with curriculum to be reviewed and meet twice yearly, in May and November to check the work of the review committees and make recommendations to the State Board of Education. Approved recommendations are posted on the web for educators and the public. Applicants will need to fill out and submit the application and a short bio expressing their interest and qualifications for these positions. As per Utah State Code 53E-4-402, members of the Commission are appointed by the State Board of Education.

The Interact Club is sponsoring a blood drive at South Summit High School on Monday, October 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter key word South Summit to schedule an appointment.
