Dear Donor,

We hope this message finds you and your families safe and well. As the world addresses the upheaval and uncertainty caused by the pandemic Coronavirus (COVID-19), we want you to know that you are in our thoughts and that we mourn with all those who have been affected, both in health and financially.

These unprecedented times serve to underscore humanity’s interconnection and interdependence. While the days ahead will be difficult, we believe the present crisis offers us an opportunity to deepen our capacity for empathy and to enrich our common humanity, better enabling us to confront the challenges we all currently face.

At times like these, we see so many people come together in ways that makes us proud to be part of a community that cares. Our teachers, our students, and their families have all stepped up during these unprecedented times to ensure that the education of our students has continued, with quality.

Consistent with the recommendations of Utah’s COVID-19 task force, we have had to unfortunately cancel the upcoming South Summit Education Foundation 2020 Gala that had been scheduled for May 12, 2020 in order to help slow the spread of Covid-19.
Even with the cancelation of this important annual celebration and fundraiser, we must not allow the virus to let us lose sight of the fact that this is a time to celebrate the graduation of our senior class of 2020 and the incredible contributions of their teachers and educators.

Our high school seniors are now in need. Because the Education Foundation Gala has been canceled, our main source of funding for senior scholarships and educator awards has been lost for 2020. We are asking you to open your hearts to give what you can. While we recognize that this is a difficult time for many, our senior class of 2020 and their outstanding teachers deserve our support at a time when they are missing out on so many events that make every senior year great. Giving what you can, we will all send a message to these students and teachers that their futures are as bright as ever and that their hard work and excellence will not be canceled by a virus.

To date, the South Summit Education Foundation has awarded $55,000 in educator awards and $110,750 in student scholarships to 122 students in the District, in addition to creating computer programming courses for our middle school students and a string orchestra for 6-12th graders. This year, we expect to award $40,000 in scholarships and $25,000 in educator awards, as well as support for mindfulness and literacy programs and continued support for the string orchestra.

To conclude, we need your help. When you give to the Foundation, you will be sending a message to the class of 2020 and their teachers that this community has chosen to celebrate their accomplishments, even in the face of adversity. We appreciate your support and urge you to contribute, either online at https://www.ssummit.org/o/ed-foundation or by mail to
